Experience the Vintage at an Open Day

17. November 2009.

The traditional Theresa day is very popular, and close to two hundred visitors came.

Fortunately, 24th October was one of the few sunny days this Autumn, so many chose to make an excursion to the Theresa chapel with our viticulturist, István Varkoly.
Grape-pressing, and tasting must and grapes are very important parts of the event.
During the day the audience was entertained by the medieval atmosphere brought by the marketplace comedies performed by Kuckó Művésztanya from Debrecen.
In the afternoon the classic battle between Ludas Matyi and Döbrögi (who may have been on a serious diet?!) was enjoyed by children and adults alike.
The work of the cooper, Attila Hotyek, always attracts great interest, as it did again this year; we could watch the "birth" of a barrel step by step; while the Erdőbénye coopers dance created a special atmosphere of its own.
What else could this day have been about than wine? The participants of the wine tasting lead by the wine-maker Ákos Keresztes could taste our new Fortissimo wine of 2008.
It was worth wracking your brains at blind tasting and being in the wine draw; here is the list of winners and their prizes:

Blind tasting:
Alida Molnár – Furmint 2006
Barbara Hegyes – Hárslevelű 2007
Ferenc Préházi – Muscat Lunel 2008

Wine draw:
István Illés – Tokaji 5 baskets + Hegyalja Album
Gábor Brilló - Fortissimo 2008
Tamás Molnár – Furmint Barrel Aged 2007
Congratulations!

„Gyalázod a bort, hogy nem ád eszet?
Mi hathatósabb a bornál ugyan?
Nem látod: az ember, hogyha jót iszik,
Mily dús, pörét megnyerte, végrehajt
Mindent, barátját fölsegéli; boldog.
Hozz hát nekem egy kancsóval: az eszem
Hadd áztatom meg s mondok egy okost.”

Arisztophanész: Ész-áztató bor
