Vintages
In addition to the Tokaj-Hegyalja traditional speciality wines (Szamorodni, Fordítás, Aszú) the estate also produces excellent semi-sweet and sweet, as well as dry and semi-dry wines from the traditional grape varieties of the wine region: Furmint, Hárslevelű and Muscat Lunel. The Gróf Degenfeld family are believers in the Tokaj traditions and are proud to associate their name with their wines striving for first class quality.
Following the family tradition, the principle of "The duty of nobility", the estate makes no compromises in their expectations of quality they follow the strict quantity limits and guidelines for the vineyards, bunches and grapes selection.
2006
Late budding and flowering following the long winter with a changeable summer (cold June, hot July, averagely hot August) and wonderfully sunny, warm autumn.
The intense shrivelling of the grapes due to the noble rot, botrytis, was slow to start but we harvested superb quality botrytised berries, characterised by delicious botrytis and brown mature grapes.
The 2006 vintage is similar – in terms of grapes and botrytis – to the 2005> Both years are outstanding but this year is maybe the better.
2007
The early budding was followed by a rapid period of vegetation growth with perfect flowering conditions. The particularly warm and dry summer was difficult for the higher young vineyards. These advantages all contributed to the end of August harvest when we began selecting the grapes. The aszú berries (botrytised) were picked from the end of September and are good quality but lower in quantity than an average year. Regarded overall as a good vintage.

S ereszkedik a pince-hűsbe,
Hol gyertyafény, belémerülve
Mutatja izzó tisztaságát.”
